Value Proposition

Emerging leaders will hone skills in grantmaking and philanthropy; gain deeper knowledge of the history and complexities of the foundation field; learn from esteemed foundations CEOs and senior leaders; and connect with diverse peers from across the country. Specifically, the pre-conference will include the following innovative programming:

:: Interactive Skills Workshops -- A slate of custom-designed sessions will offer intimate, intellectually-challenging and skills trainings in grantmaking. Presenters include Jan Jaffe (GrantCraft), James Allen Smith (Rockefeller Archives Center), Allison Sole (21/64), Chet Tchozewski (Global GreenGrants), Mark Constantine (Jesse Ball DuPont Fund), Kalpana Krishnamurthy, and more! Topics covered include ethics in grantmaking; wit and wisdom: diverse voices of executive leadership in foundations; the history of private philanthropy, race and the American South; and social justice philanthropy.

:: Intergenerational Learning -- Plenary discussions and intimate salons will provide emerging grantmakers with a unique national opportunity for inter-generational learning amongst foundation professionals. Invited speakers include Ralph Smith, Board Chair, Council on Foundations, and Vice President, Annie E. Casey Foundation; Kathryn Merchant, Annual Conference Chair, and CEO, Greater Cincinatti Community Foundation; Lynn Walker Huntley, CEO, Southern Education Foundation; and more!

:: Orientation to COF Annual Conference -- Greetings and a special orientation offered by Kathryn Merchant, Chair of the 2009 COF Annual Conference (President/CEO, Greater Cinncinatti Community Foundation), as well as other Council staff members and leaders.

:: Career Development -- Special resources on workplace support and career development. How can you be a productive grantmaker with grant budgets on hold or drastically lowered? How do you decide on graduate school opportunities?

:: Peer Networking -- Meet a diverse array of emerging leaders from across the United States and from all types of foundations and philanthropic organizations.

Registration:

An affordable registration fee is required for the pre-conference, seperate from registration for the Annual Conference. Participants are strongly encouraged to register for and attend both. However, attending the Annual Conference is not mandatory to register for this pre-conference. Given the economic crisis and its impact on foundation budgets, we are being very intentional about ensuring affordability.

Registration is $200 per person.

EPIP members have access to a 25% member discount, and so pay only $150.

EPIP is offering members the opportunity to apply for scholarships to attend the Next Generation Pre-Conference as well as the Annual Conference. We have very limited resources and will strongly prefer applications scholarship to attend the Pre-Conference.

Get Valuable Savings: Become an individual member today for $100, then register for the Pre-Conference at the $150 Member Rate! Taken together, you'll pay only $50 more, and you'll get 2 days of training and networking, plus gain 12 months worth of valuable EPIP membership!
