Affinity Groups
National funder networks offer specialized support on program-related issues (i.e. Grantmakers in Health), foundation management (i.e. Grants Managers Network) and identity-based support (i.e. Hispanics in Philanthropy). This link provides a list of those affinity groups recognized by the Council on Foundations. (Shameless plug: as of Fall 2004, EPIP is on this list!)

The Foundation Center's resources for grantmakers

Alliance for Justice's foundation advocacy initiative
Assists foundations in understanding/navigating tax regulations, to enable them to support advocacy.
The Grantmaking School
A university-based program teaching the techniques and ethics of grantmaking. Geared specifically to meet the practical needs of grantmakers on topics such as strategic grantmaking for enhanced impact, robust due diligence, and ethics for action.
Council on Foundations' professional development page
Offers educational events, audiotapes, online learning, mentor and fellowship programs, knowledge bank, and documents you need. Developed for newcomers, journeymen grantmakers and foundation chief officers to increase organizational performance.
Fellowships in Philanthropy: Policy and Curriculum Brief
This report, available here as a .pdf document (also available from the EPIP office in a lovely hard copy published version) is useful for enhancing foundation fellowship programs, as well as the professional development of any and all foundation staff. Social Justice Philanthropy Collaborative
A coalition of national philanthropic associations, research groups and foundations that works to increase and deepen funding for social change. Founded in early 2007, the Collaborative is recruiting new members, identifying activities that will educate or convene a broader set of organizations and individuals, and build power and influence in the field.
